| Dentists
are in a unique position “To Save A Life” when immediate
action is urgent. Performing CPR along with the use of
an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) is rapidly becoming
the standard of care required during a cardiac emergency.
According to the American Heart Association, if a victim
of SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) goes without defibrillation
the chances of survival decrease 7% to 10% every minute. That means five minutes of delay decreases the chances of survival by 50%.
Easy to use AEDs may make a significant life saving difference. |

| With
the availability of CPR and AEDs many of the 400,000 annual
cardiac fatalities may be avoided. Effective action in
the first few minutes of a heart attack may minimize cardiac
damage and sharply increase the chances of survival until
additional help becomes available. The benefits far outweigh
the modest cost and effort of being prepared. |
